September 22, 1998

Approximately 30 people attended the September 22 community meeting at Carolina High School. As with the Northwest Area meeting, the introduction to the process was held in the auditorium. Due to the small number of attendees, one break-out group was held in the library. Planning Commission staff members recorded over 25 specific suggestions. These include:

  • Improving drainage in some roadways, such as White Horse Road at Highway 81;
  • Establishing more senior citizen activities and services;

  • Establishing more supervised youth activities and services;

  • Recruiting more upscale retail shopping, restaurants, and theaters to the Westside; and
  • Reducing the number of adult oriented businesses.
