November 9, 1998

Approximately 35 people attended the November 9 community meeting at Riverside High School. The introduction to the process was held in the auditorium. Two break-out groups were held in classrooms. Planning Commission staff members recorded over 30 specific suggestions. These include:

  • Plan should support public transit for everyone, not just those who can afford public transportation only;

  • The rezoning process should require the applicant to contact infrastructure providers, i.e. water, sewer, schools, roads, to obtain concurrence with the development before requesting a rezone; and

  • The School District should be given the authority to say no or to veto new developments in suburbs if development will adversely impact the schools capacity.
